Job summary

International Paper Company in Prattville invites applications for an Area Process Manager - Power and Chemical. The role covers two lime kilns, evaporators, boilers, and turbine generators, managed by four area managers to achieve safety, environmental, quality, production and cost targets.

Candidates should have four years post-college experience with at least two years in pulp & paper, plus an engineering degree and supervisory exposure. Utilities or evaporator experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for day-to-day manufacturing needs to deliver safety, environmental, quality, production and cost targets.
  • Lead area to an injury-free work environment through safe leadership and example.
  • Lead safety processes including safety work systems, observations, and operator safety training.
  • Maintain high standards and communicate them clearly with accountability.
  • Drive continual improvement with a Manufacturing Excellence culture; support IEPM, MWS, RCFA, Basic Care, and Preventative Maintenance.

Pay Rate

$130,000 – $160,000

The Job You Will Perform:

The Power & Chemical area is comprised of two Lime Kilns, three sets of black liquor Evaporators, influent and effluent treatment systems, two black liquor Recovery Boilers, two bark & natural gas Power Boilers, and two hydrogen cooled turbine generators. This area is divided between four area managers who cover various portions of the process. Area manager’s with backgrounds in any of the above processes are welcome to apply. Manager duties include the following.

  • They are responsible for the day to day manufacturing needs in a manner that delivers target results in the areas of safety, environmental, quality, production, and cost.
  • Lead their area to injury free work environment through leadership by example and modeling safe behaviors
  • Lead the safety processes including safety work systems, safety observations, and operator safety training
  • Maintain high standards in their area. Standards should be communicated clearly and upheld through accountability.
  • Lead and sustain continual improvement with a Manufacturing Excellence culture
  • Lead ongoing improvements efforts in IEPM, MWS, RCFA, Basic Care, and Preventative Maintenance efforts to continue meeting or exceeding world class standards. Develop, maintain, and use reliable methods for all processes and improvements
  • Assist with prioritization of daily and scheduled maintenance work along with coordination of manpower scheduling
  • Plan and execute Annual outages
  • Ensure a quality product is produced for our internal customers
  • Foster team environment to support an engaged workforce
  • Understand and assist in meeting area costs versus budget
The Skills You Will Bring:

  • Technical degree in engineering and some supervisory experience is preferred
  • Experience in Utilities, lime kilns, or evaporators preferred.
