Job summary

Quikrete is seeking an Area Operations Manager to lead terminal operations, safety programs, and cost optimization across multiple locations. You will manage budgets, drive efficiency, and oversee capital projects while ensuring compliance with DOT and safety standards.

The role requires strong leadership, excellent communication, and travel across sites. Cement industry experience and a background in logistics are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of workplace safety programs and policies.
• Experience managing multiple locations across states.
• Ability to develop and manage operating budgets for locations.
• Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance in industrial environments.
• Project management experience and capital projects planning.
• Knowledge of supply chain logistics for trucks, rail cars, and barges.
• Lead employees across multiple locations with servant leadership.
• Experience with material handling, bulk powders, and silo storage.
• Willingness to travel regularly.
• Minimum 5 years in cement industry or related field.

Responsibilities

• Champion safety culture and lead safety meetings with staff.
• Ensure terminal operations run on schedule, meet quality standards, and align with forecasted expenses.
• Drive cost optimization through studies, tests, and process improvements.
• Foster a positive work environment emphasizing safety, fair compensation, and growth.
• Support community involvement and uphold the company’s corporate image.
• Recommend and oversee capital investments within budget and timeline.
• Lead development and execution of logistics strategies aligned with business plans.
• Manage the terminal unit’s budget, capex, and P&L accountability.
• Establish and enforce safety and environmental policies per DOT rules.
• Collaborate with Terminal Managers to optimize shipping routes and operations.
• Leverage TMS to optimize outbound shipping and system integrity.
• Develop and monitor KPIs and performance metrics.
• Oversee dispatch operations to ensure efficiency and customer service.
• Lead recruiting, hiring, training, and performance management of Terminal Managers.
• Collaborate with leadership to drive continuous improvement.
