Job summary

Quikrete Materials is seeking an Area Operations Manager to oversee terminal operations, safety culture, and strategic development across multiple locations. Qualifications

• Knowledge of workplace safety programs and policies.
• Experience managing multiple locations across states.
• Ability to develop and manage operating budgets per location.
• Familiarity with preventive and predictive maintenance in industrial settings.
• Project management with capital projects planning and execution.
• Knowledge of truck, rail, and barge supply chains.
• Ability to lead teams at multiple locations with servant leadership.
• Experience with material handling, bulk powders, and silo storage.
• Willingness to travel regularly.
• Ability to perform in high-pressure environments with minimal supervision.
• Minimum 5 years in cement or related field.

Responsibilities

• Champions safety culture by participating in safety meetings and addressing staff safety concerns.
• Ensure terminal operations are executed on schedule, with quality and forecasted expenses aligned with sales demands.
• Lead cost-optimization efforts by guiding studies, tests, and modifications to lower costs without compromising quality or equipment integrity.
• Foster a positive work environment prioritizing safety, fair compensation, and professional growth through training and engagement initiatives.
• Support community involvement and maintain a positive corporate image.
• Recommend and oversee capital investments within budget, scope, and time constraints to ensure efficient operations.
• Lead development and execution of strategic initiatives aligned with business and logistics plans.
• Manage the business unit budget, capital expenditures, and full P&L accountability.
• Establish and enforce safety and environmental policies compliant with DOT and regulations.
• Collaborate with Terminal Managers to analyze shipping data and improve route efficiency.
• Leverage Transportation Management System (TMS) to optimize outbound shipping and system integrity.
• Develop and monitor KPIs and operational metrics.
• Oversee dispatch operations to ensure terminal efficiency and customer service goals.
• Lead recruitment, hiring, training, and performance management of Terminal Managers.
• Work with leadership and other departments to drive continuous improvement.
