Job summary

The Montana Department of Transportation's Missoula Lab is seeking an Area Lab Supervisor to manage materials operations and activities across highway construction projects. The supervisor acts as the Area's authority on materials standards, sampling, testing, and application, coordinating with the District Materials Supervisor and Materials Bureau to ensure consistency and compliance.

Qualifications

• This position requires a combination of education and experience equivalent to two years of technical training or college coursework.
• Minimum of four years of progressively responsible experience in construction lab testing or highway construction, including at least one year in a supervisory role.

Responsibilities

• Manage materials operations and activities across highway construction projects.
• Coordinate with District Materials Supervisor and Materials Bureau to ensure consistency and compliance of judgments and decisions.
• Administer the Area Materials Laboratory to ensure effective operations, compliance with standards, and integrity of sampling, testing, and results analysis.
• Supervise 2-4 FTE, based on division office, and handle budgeting, timelines, and resource allocations.
