Job summary

Henkels & McCoy, Inc. in New Jersey seeks an Area Manager for the New Jersey Division to lead electric utility and power infrastructure construction services across transmission, distribution, substation, and related projects.

You will oversee day-to-day operations, safety, quality, and profitability, manage resources, develop client relationships, and ensure performance targets are met across multiple sites, with occasional travel within the division.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Project Management, Engineering, or Construction related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 10 years’ experience in managing construction operations on mid- to large-scale projects, supervising construction activities, and advanced knowledge of construction and utility industry practices.
• Strong business development, sales and marketing skills with the ability to identify variations in market areas.
• Working knowledge of RFP's, contracts/contract review, prints, specifications, and system documentation.
• Ability to support site surveys and evaluate / review detailed estimates.
• Strong background in business management, management assessment and cost control.
• Ability to motivate and lead a team to achieve safety, performance and profitability goals.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate leadership and support for Henkels & McCoy, Inc. and the East Region’s Safety Program and goals; routinely inspect and ensure compliance with safety rules.
• Effectively allocate manpower and equipment to all projects for efficient scheduling and completion.
• Assist leadership on issues that help with operation, development and growth of our Power Line of Business.
• Develop BU strategic plans including customer goals; reset annually and adjust quarterly.
• Build relationships with current and new customers, supported by Sales and Marketing.
• Develop proactive relationships with key contacts and decision makers.
• Execute projects timely and professionally to meet performance and profitability goals.
• Develop and manage Quality Assurance Program to ensure high standards; leverage Quality Department.
• Oversee recruitment, interviews, hiring and performance evaluations of staff.
• Familiarize with WOS and other financial reports and tools.
• Provide routine customer interface during on-site inspections and billings; review estimates and proposals for accuracy.
