Job summary

Imperium Global is seeking an Area Manager to lead heavy civil and general construction projects in the San Francisco Bay Area. This senior role will oversee project teams, manage budgets, schedules, safety, and quality to deliver profitable outcomes.

Candidates should bring PMP or equivalent experience in heavy civil, with strong skills in scheduling, cost control, and client relations. Travel across Bay Area locations is required.

Qualifications

• PMP certification or project management experience in heavy civil.
• Experience leading multiple grading, paving, site development or infra projects.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and teams.
• Strong knowledge of scheduling, cost control, and project financials.
• Experience with public agencies or private owners is preferred.
• Familiarity with construction software such as HCSS, Primavera, AutoCAD is a plus.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Willingness to travel across the Bay Area and hold a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Oversee multiple Bay Area grading, paving, heavy civil, and site development projects.
• Lead project teams and oversee budgets, schedules, safety, quality, risk, and financial performance.
• Manage owner/agency contracts, change orders, submittals, claims, and subcontractor relationships.
• Monitor project financials, forecasting, cost-to-complete, and overall profitability.
• Coordinate with estimating and preconstruction on bids, estimates, constructability, and project handoff.
• Review plans, specifications, and project requirements to identify cost and schedule risks.
• Partner with field leadership to ensure safe, efficient, and timely project execution.
• Develop strong relationships with owners, agencies, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Mentor Project Managers, Project Engineers, and other project staff.
• Support client development, repeat business, and regional growth.
• Travel between Bay Area project locations as needed.

A well-established and highly respected heavy civil and general construction contractor is seeking an Area Manager to join its team in the San Francisco Bay Area.

This is a key leadership role overseeing multiple grading, paving, site development, and heavy civil projects. The Area Project Manager will lead project teams, manage financial and contractual performance, maintain client relationships, and ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and profitably.

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Project Management Professional in heavy civil or related construction.
• Strong background in grading, paving, site development, or infrastructure projects.
• Experience managing multiple projects and project teams.
• Strong knowledge of construction operations, contracts, scheduling, estimating, cost control, and project financials.
• Experience with public agencies and/or private owners preferred.
• Familiarity with HCSS, Bid2Win, Hard Dollar, Primavera, AGTEK, AutoCAD, or similar software is a plus.
• Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout the Bay Area.
