Job summary

Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is seeking an Area Maintenance Coordinator (Transportation Specialist Advanced) to join the Northwest Region team. This full-time role can be headquartered in Spooner or Superior, WI, and involves leading maintenance planning and coordinating activities across multiple counties.

The position reports to the Region Operations Supervisor and requires high-level expertise in highway maintenance, with on-call duties and regional travel.

Qualifications

• Experience in design and/or construction of highway or roadway projects.
• Ability to communicate technical information to varied customers or groups.
• Experience working on a team that manages a project.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance operations for a designated geographic area.
• Provide technical expertise to resolve facility maintenance problems and conflicts.
• Modify or stop maintenance activities to meet budget goals in negotiation with County Highway Commissioners and Patrol Superintendents.
• Be on call with County personnel and law enforcement; standby for RIMC rotation.
• Travel independently across assigned counties five days per week.
