Job summary

Alpha Corporation in Virginia Beach seeks a hands-on Area Lead to manage the local office, grow market presence, and lead client-facing infrastructure projects across the Southeast Region. The role requires a strong track record in civil engineering/construction management, leadership, and business development, with PE in VA preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field.
• PE license in VA preferred or ability to obtain within one year.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in civil engineering, construction management, or related consulting.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Virginia Beach office as the primary local point of contact for staff, clients, partners, and project teams.
• Support growth strategy, annual business planning, client development, and key pursuits with Southeast Regional SVP.
• Build relationships with clients, partners, agencies, contractors, and stakeholders across Hampton Roads and beyond.
• Identify and pursue new opportunities through client engagement, pipeline management, capture planning, and proposals.
• Represent Alpha in the local market via client meetings, industry orgs, and networking events.
• Oversee a multidisciplinary office team including field staff, PMs, engineers, and designers.
• Provide hands-on support to project teams for staffing, coordination, documentation, and client-service issues.
• Monitor scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, and contract compliance to ensure delivery success.
• Promote clear communication among office staff, field teams, clients, subcontractors, and leadership.
• Track milestones and capacity to support forecasting, budgeting, and workload planning.
• Recruit, onboard, mentor, and retain local engineering and construction management staff.
• Foster a responsive, safety-focused, client-centered office culture.
