Job summary

Perrigo is seeking a training-focused role in Grand Rapids to support defined manufacturing areas. You will prepare and deliver training, ensure GMP compliance, and perform inspections while coordinating with shifts and teams.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, basic computer skills, and at least 6 months of manufacturing experience. Opportunities include mentoring, SAP data entry, and periodic LMS audits.

Qualifications

• Ability to understand and follow written and oral work instructions in English.
• 6 months of manufacturing job experience.
• Working knowledge of computers to perform procedures, reading procedures, using SAP.
• Basic math and reading comprehension.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and conducts training to support defined area(s). Identifies training needs and schedules and delivers training on identified shifts.
• Employee is responsible for following GMPs and performing in-process inspections and properly recording inspections.
• Lead will provide input on additional training for new employees.
• Employee will visually inspect parts produced and separate parts for rework or rejection; verify product specs on sheets and documentation.
• Learn to perform trouble shooting and minor machine repairs.
• Set up and operate machines at assigned workstation; perform preventive maintenance to sustain equipment efficiency.
• Read work orders and picklists to ensure proper materials and specifications are met.
• Coordinate activities of assigned crew and communicate with material handlers during production runs and downtime.
• Enter data in the SAP system.
• Train employees on machine operation procedures and work orders/customer specifications.
• Periodically review LMS curricula and conduct regular training audits.
• Mentor area trainers on the shift; stay current on processes and procedures.
• Lead a line of 3 or more on a consistent basis.
• Support GMP requirements and RedZone utilization.

Description Overview

• Provides a structured approach to training ensuring employees in specific operational areas have knowledge, skills, and abilities to do their job.
• Employee is responsible for understanding the job requirements and knowing/understanding the procedures for each assigned packaging workstation.

Scope of the Role

• Prepares and conducts training to support defined area(s). Identifies training needs and schedules and delivers training on identified shifts.
• Employee is responsible for following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and understand the importance of GMPs. Employee should be able to perform in-process inspections and properly record the inspections on the appropriate paperwork.
• Lead will provide input on additional training that they might deem necessary for new employees.
• Employee will visually inspect parts produced and separate parts for rework or rejection (assembly and packaging). As well as understand and know the defects for packaging (appearance, color, seal quality, print quality). Visual inspections include verifying the product spec. sheet, WIP documentation, production releases, and any quality issues as indicated by the specification.
• Employees will gain the ability to learn how to perform trouble shooting and minor machine repairs.
• Employees will set-up and operate machines at assigned workstation. Employee must be able to perform operator specified preventive maintenance activities and maintain equipment at a level which sustains equipment efficiencies.
• Employee is responsible to change materials, set up labels, perform minor adjustments to machines, assist with machine changeovers, and retrieving materials as needed. Employee must be able to read the work order and picklist to ensure proper materials are used and work order specifications are met.
• Coordinate the activities of assigned crew and communicate with material handlers during production runs and downtime to assure maximum efficiencies.
• Enter data in the SAP system.
• Train employee on machine operation procedures and work orders/customer specifications.
• Periodically review LMS curricula and conduct regular training audits within identified area of responsibility and adjust as needed. Identifies training gaps and addresses or escalates as needed.
• Acts as a resource for employees to access, understand, and interpret operation procedures as it relates to their job and area and as a resource mentor for area trainers on the shift. Remains current on processes and procedures within area of responsibility.
• Leads a line of 3 or more on a consistent basis.
• Support effective implementation of all GMP requirements and understand how it affects products/processes supported and/or owned.
• Involvement with RedZone utilization as instructed.

Experience Required

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral work instructions in English, such as safety, quality, and GMP guidelines
• 6 months of manufacturing job experience
• Working knowledge of computers knowis required to perform necessarytask such as finding and reading procedures, using computer terminals, and entering production in SAP
• Basic math and reading comprehension skills are also required.
