Job summary

Scorpion Therapeutics in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a Training Specialist to standardize and deliver GMP-focused training for packaging workstations. You will prepare sessions, schedule training across shifts, and ensure proper documentation of results.

Responsibilities include GMP compliance, in-process inspections, machine setup, minor repairs, and SAP data entry. You will mentor fellow trainers and help manage changeovers to maximize line efficiency.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral work instructions in English.
• Basic math and reading comprehension skills.
• Working knowledge of computers to read procedures and enter production in SAP.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and conduct training for defined area(s); identify training needs, schedule, and deliver training on identified shifts.
• Follow GMPs; perform in-process inspections and properly record results.
• Visually inspect parts; separate for rework or rejection and verify packaging quality; record results.
• Learn troubleshooting and minor machine repairs.
• Set up and operate machines; perform operator-specified preventive maintenance and maintain equipment efficiency.
• Coordinate assigned crew activities; communicate with material handlers during production runs and downtime to maximize efficiency.
• Enter data in SAP and train employees on procedures and work orders/customer specifications.
• Review LMS curricula; conduct training audits and address training gaps.
• Act as a resource/mentor for area trainers; lead a line of 3+ on a consistent basis.

Description Overview

• Provides a structured approach to training ensuring employees in specific operational areas have knowledge, skills, and abilities to do their job.
• Ensure employees understand job requirements and procedures for each assigned packaging workstation.

Scope of the Role

• Prepare and conduct training for defined area(s); identify training needs, schedule, and deliver training on identified shifts.
• Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs); perform in-process inspections and properly record results.
• Visually inspect parts; separate for rework or rejection (assembly/packaging) and understand packaging defects (appearance, color, seal quality, print quality); verify product spec sheet, WIP documentation, production releases, and quality issues.
• Learn troubleshooting and minor machine repairs.
• Set up and operate machines; perform operator-specified preventive maintenance and maintain equipment efficiency.
• Change materials, set up labels, perform minor machine adjustments, assist with changeovers, retrieve materials; read work orders and picklists to ensure correct materials/specifications.
• Coordinate assigned crew activities; communicate with material handlers during production runs and downtime to maximize efficiency.
• Enter data in SAP.
• Train employees on machine operation procedures and work orders/customer specifications.
• Review LMS curricula; conduct training audits, address/escalate training gaps.
• Act as a resource/mentor for area trainers; remain current on area procedures.
• Lead a line of 3+ on a consistent basis.
• Support implementation of GMP requirements and understand impact on products/processes.
• Involvement with RedZone utilization as instructed.

Experience Required / Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral work instructions in English (safety, quality, GMP).
• 6 months of manufacturing job experience.
• Working knowledge of computers to read procedures, use computer terminals, and enter production in SAP.
• Basic math and reading comprehension skills.
