Job summary

C&S Wholesale Grocers is seeking a District Manager to supervise merchandisers and salespersons across Springfield, Sturbridge and Western Massachusetts. You will ensure store responsibilities are met, coordinate schedules, and report to the Regional Manager in a fast-paced distribution environment.

You will hire and fire staff, evaluate performance, schedule coverage, lead weekly sales meetings, and drive improvements while controlling budget and timelines.

Qualifications

• Basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers).
• Ability to manage difficult or emotional customer situations and respond promptly to customer needs
• Willingness to solicit customer feedback to improve service
• Communication skills, including speaking clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations
• The capability to read and interpret written information and comprehend simple instructions

Responsibilities

• Supervise merchandisers and salespeople in the district.
• Visit stores to ensure responsibilities are completed.
• Approve vacation requests for staff.
• Formally evaluate merchandisers annually.
• Hire/firing decisions for merchandisers and salespeople.
• Coordinate projects; communicate changes and progress; complete projects on time and budget.
• Maintain and manage all facets of business in the district.
• Maintain sales route schedules accurately.
• Lead weekly sales meetings with the field team.
• Disseminate new information (new items, distros, etc.).
• Schedule coverage for sales routes, store resets and remodels.
• Collect store information from surveys and related forms.
• Resolve store issues escalated beyond sales staff.
• Evaluate monthly sales figures and address issues.
