Job summary

United Rentals, Inc. is seeking an Area Dispatcher to organize the daily dispatch of drivers for a metro area in a safe and timely manner.

You will work closely with Operations Managers and Inside Sales Reps to ensure deliveries are properly scheduled and executed to guarantee superior customer service. This role requires a High School diploma or equivalent, a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record, and knowledge of DOT/Federal Motor Carrier rules.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Knowledge of DOT/Federal Motor Carrier rules and regulations.
• Diligent attention to safety.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong leadership, organization and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee dispatch of drivers within the metro-area to maximize efficiency and customer delivery responsiveness.
• Monitor driver progress and adjust schedules as pick-up and delivery orders come in.
• Maximize truck loads outbound and inbound.
• Optimize use of overtime and outside haulers to deliver superior customer service.
• Support branches in maintaining customer relations via phone for equipment location or delivery changes.
• Demonstrate commitment to safety and accountability through proactive communication.
• Perform safety inspections within company and governmental policies.
• Other duties assigned as needed.
