Job Duties:

The University Area Coordinator (AC) at UW‑Green Bay plays a vital role in advancing student success by fostering an inclusive, engaging, and safe residential community where students can thrive academically and personally. Serving as a live‑in professional within Housing and Residential Education, the AC oversees a residential area of approximately 700–800 students and provides leadership and support to student staff. Grounded in UW‑Green Bay’s mission to deliver high‑impact education and meaningful access for learners across Northeast Wisconsin, this position advances the University’s strategic priorities by building community, supporting holistic student development, and responding fearlessly to challenges that impact student well‑being.

Guided by UW‑Green Bay’s values—Advance Fearlessly, Empower Success, Provision Access, Build Community, and Express Gratitude, the AC provides day‑to‑day supervision, training, and mentorship to student staff; supports residential programming and engagement initiatives; responds to crises and emergency situations; and contributes to key departmental functional areas such as Residential Curriculum, Living‑Learning initiatives, staff development, or student leadership. The AC is a collaborative campus partner, an on‑call professional dedicated to care and accountability, and a champion of a connected residential experience. Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Triages and responds to emergency situations according to established policies and procedures in partnership with emergency personnel and law enforcement if necessary

  • Assists staff in responding to crisis and student conduct situations according to established policies and procedures

  • Coordinates and delivers centralized training of student and professional staff

  • Assists with creating inclusive and engaged residential communities that focus on student academic success

  • Supervises the day‑to‑day activities of student and/or professional staff and may assist with the staff development plan including hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation

  • Reviews, tracks, and assesses programming and involvement opportunities

  • Serves in 365 days per year on‑duty rotation with other professional staff

  • Administrative responsibilities; including reports, student conduct facilitation, office hours, building walk‑throughs, departmental committees, tracking program involvement, and summer operations support

  • Implements campus, divisional, and departmental priorities, focusing on community, student development, and academic success

Compensation:

Compensation range of $43,000 to $47,000 salary.
This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Conditions of Appointment:

This position requires on‑campus residency and compliance with on‑campus rules and regulations. It also requires a varying schedule and workload over 40 hours per week, including on‑duty responsibilities (on a rotating basis) during the evenings, weekends, and holidays. Occasional training, meetings, and programmatic responsibilities on weekends, especially during crucial times of the year, should be expected. This position includes occasional travel for student development, leadership development, and professional responsibilities and development.

Position is a full‑time Academic Staff appointment. A pre‑employment education check which includes, but is not limited to, the verification of academic credentials will be conducted on the finalist(s). A criminal conviction investigation will be conducted on the finalist(s) and if there is prior work history within the last 7 years with Universities of Wisconsin, a personnel file review check for employee misconduct. In addition, eligible employees receive several types of paid leave benefits, which are prorated for employees working less than 100%. This includes 9 legal holidays, 36 hours of personal holiday and between 96-130 hours of sick leave annually and paid parental leave.
