Job summary

TOPPAN Packaging Americas seeks an Area Controller to lead financial reporting, budgeting, cost accounting, and internal controls across multiple manufacturing sites. You will mentor accounting staff and partner with plant managers and senior leadership to drive performance.

The role requires 5+ years in manufacturing finance, a accounting/finance degree (MBA/CMA/CPA preferred), and strong leadership with excellent communication. Location options include Franklin Park, IL or Charlotte, NC.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in Manufacturing (Plant accounting and financial closing).
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance; MBA/CMA/CPA preferred.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and financial drivers.
• Proficiency in MS Office, D365, IQMS and OneStream.
• High attention to detail and accuracy; strong communication skills.
• Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee financial operations in the assigned area, including accounting and budgeting/forecasting.
• Ensure timely month-, quarter-, and year-end closes.
• Document monthly Balance Sheet reconciliation.
• Evaluate reports for financial accuracy across plant processes.
• Prepare and present financial reports and analyses to leadership.
• Analyze trends and guide Operational Leads to improve results.
• Lead forecasts and annual budgets; document variances.
• Support ad-hoc projects and presentations as needed.
• Review standard cost and update quarterly and yearly.
• Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with policies.
• Coordinate with internal/external auditors for audits.
• Identify process improvements to increase efficiency.
• Mentor and develop accounting staff across sites.

Visit us at packaging.toppan.comSummary Description:The Area Controller is a key leadership role within the Accounting & Finance team, responsible for overseeing financial reporting, budgeting, cost accounting, and internal controls across multiple manufacturing sites (3). This role involves managing accounting functions, budgeting, forecasting, cost accounting, and financial analysis to support operational efficiency and strategic decision-making. The Area Controller will work closely with plant managers, finance teams, and senior leadership to drive financial performance and ensure adherence to corporate policies and procedures.
