Job summary

RTCA is seeking a hands‑on Area Lead/CNC Machinist in Rockford, MI to lead a work cell and support production on a 5am–5:30pm schedule (3 x 12‑hour shifts). The role includes a $3/hr shift differential and duties spanning setup, machining, and quality oversight.

You will guide CNC Operators and Machinists, ensure safety and process compliance, and collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and leadership to meet production goals.

Qualifications

• Several years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably aerospace.
• Strong knowledge of CNC machining, setups, blueprints, GD&T, and inspection practices.
• Demonstrated ability to lead by example and support/train others.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to balance production responsibilities with team coordination.

Responsibilities

• W ork full-time, onsite at Rockford, MI (5am–5:30pm, 3 x 12‑hour shifts).
• This position includes a $3/hr shift differential.
• Perform CNC machining, setup, and production activities as a working lead in the area.
• Coordinate daily workflow and prioritize to meet production schedules.
• Provide day‑to‑day guidance, training, and support to CNC Operators and Machinists.
• Monitor quality, safety, and procedural compliance; address issues as they arise.
• Assist with troubleshooting production, tooling, and process issues; escalate as needed.
• Communicate production status and resource needs with leadership.
• Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
