Job summary

Banfield Pet Hospital is seeking an Area Chief of Staff to lead, develop and manage associate veterinarians in hospitals, attracting, developing and retaining doctors while ensuring quality care and meeting performance measures.

Responsibilities include leading quality initiatives, conducting audits, recruiting and training veterinarians, partnering with leadership, managing equipment, ensuring regulatory compliance, representing Banfield in professional organizations, and willingness to travel

Qualifications

• DVM/VMD or equivalent degree required.
• Active veterinary license in good standing or eligible.
• 3+ years of small-animal medicine and surgery experience.
• Proficiency in basic surgical procedures and instruments.
• Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Willingness to work weekends/evenings and travel.
• Must obtain state Controlled Substance and federal DEA certification within 3 months of employment.
• USDA accreditation as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Lead quality initiatives and foster a culture of safety at hospital level.
• Conduct regular hospital visits, audits and performance reviews for compliance.
• Recruit, interview, onboard and train associate and locum veterinarians; provide ongoing coaching and mentorship.
• Partner with senior leadership to identify, develop and retain veterinary talent for leadership roles.
• Manage medical equipment inventory, maintenance and calibration; ensure compliance with standards.
• Maintain hospital operations in compliance with regulations, including controlled substances and radiation safety.
• Represent Banfield in local, state and national veterinary organizations to promote brand and cultivate relationships.
• Provide additional support as assigned by senior leadership.
