Job summary

Vulcan Materials Company is seeking an Area Blaster Trainee to champion safety and oversee drilling, blasting, and related operations at our facility. You will design and optimize shots while ensuring air overpressure and ground vibration stay within regulatory and company standards, and you will load shots according to plan with oversight from management and blasting vendors.

The role requires eligibility for relevant federal/state blasting licenses, ATF possessor status, and a strong emphasis

Qualifications

• Must be able to obtain and maintain state blasting license.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain ATF employee possessor status.
• Requires safety-focused mindset and compliance with MSHA and Vulcan standards.
• Experience with drilling, blasting design, and shot planning preferred.
• Ability to interpret mine maps, seismographic results, and GPS data.

Responsibilities

• Perform administrative duties related to the blasting program and shot reports.
• Manage pre-charging and post-blast surveys and shot layout diagrams.
• Direct vendor bulk truck drivers and shot helpers during shot loading.
• Coordinate with plant management and blasting vendor to ensure correct blasting agents are delivered.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
