Job summary

Schlumberger Limited is seeking a Drilling Fluids Specialist in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, to safely manage wellsite operations related to the drilling fluids system. You will apply advanced mud chemistry knowledge to test, optimize, and maintain fluids while coordinating with project engineers and field personnel.

The role requires Arctic-condition experience, strong communication, and the ability to work legally in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2-year Associate/Technical Degree or equivalent.
  • 5 years’ experience working as a drilling fluids Specialist in arctic conditions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications.
  • Must have the legal right to work in the United States without Visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Knowledgeable on key SLB product properties, applications, and limitations.
  • Knowledgeable on the properties of the mud and fluid chemistry.
  • Able to generate and implement the drilling fluids program with the Project Engineer.
  • Responsible for maintaining the drilling fluids system within specifications.
  • Calculate volumes (mud pits, annular, pipe capacity) without supervision.
  • Apply effective pit management principles during drilling operations.
  • Explain solids control process and how product choices impact fluid properties.
  • Make recommendations to prevent/address hole problems and lost circulation.
  • Minimize impact of wellbore conditions and contaminants on the drilling fluids system.
  • Improve hole cleaning efficiency through flow rates and viscosities.
  • Perform hydraulics calculations using Virtual HydraulicsTM without supervision.
  • Demonstrate advanced proficiency in Virtual HydraulicsTM software.
  • Understand PSD, chemicals, and contaminants on fluid loss.
  • Recognize stuck pipe incidents and select release agents.
  • Identify lost circulation symptoms and remedial treatments.
  • Convert to alternate mud systems without supervision.
  • Additional advanced knowledge for complex drilling operations.
