Job summary

Cal Poly's Special Collections and Archives is seeking a dedicated archival technician to perform accessioning, processing, and preservation of physical and digital collections. The role supports long-term access, collection maintenance, and space planning for the department.

The position involves managing university archives and related collections, applying best practices, and ensuring accessibility for teaching, research, exhibitions, and community projects.

Qualifications

• Comprehensive knowledge of standards, best practices, ethics and trends in special collections.
• Ability to interpret policies and procedures and apply sound judgment.
• Understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion in Special Collections and Archives.
• Experience with ArchivesSpace or equivalent archival management system.

Responsibilities

• Perform archival accessioning and processing for physical and digital collections.
• Maintain department collections and files, track collections, and support space planning.
• Support accessibility and use of primary sources for teaching, research and exhibitions.
