Job summary

The University of Cincinnati invites applications for an Archivist, Archives & Rare Books Law Library. This full-time tenure-track faculty appointment focuses on developing print and digital workflows, digitization, and preservation of archival materials.

The position oversees web content, metadata creation, and access. It requires a Master's in library or information science, familiarity with archives standards, and the ability to collaborate across UC Libraries.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in library science or information science from an ALA-accredited institution or a related graduate degree.
• Familiarity with archival standards and best practices.
• Experience with print and digital archival collections.
• Knowledge of metadata schema including Extended Dublin Core.
• Web development basics (HTML, XML, CSS, JavaScript).
• Ability to provide excellent customer service.
• Commitment to professional development and UC Libraries tenure requirements.
• Ability to communicate clearly, analyze tasks, and manage details.
• Physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Develop workflows for accessioning, ingesting, processing, describing, and preserving materials.
• Oversee processing, cataloging, and preservation of in-house materials with metadata creation.
• Maintain and develop ARB Law Library digital and print collections and exhibitions.
• Collaborate on workflows and discovery solutions for print and digital archives.
• Provide reference service for archival materials as needed.
• Supervise student assistants and promote collections via blogs and social media.
