Job summary

Impact Advisors is seeking an Archiving Project Manager to lead data archiving from legacy applications within a healthcare IT environment. You will craft scope, coordinate with an archiving vendor, and align with Epic deployment while engaging sponsors and governance bodies.

Responsibilities include defining data retention rules, interviewing owners, and guiding retirement strategies through structured milestones and risk management. A PMP is preferred; a bachelor’s degree is required.

Qualifications

• 7+ years managing complex healthcare IT projects, preferably involving EHR implementations or major application transitions.
• Proven experience leading legacy application decommissioning, data archiving, data migration, or application rationalization projects.
• Strong ability to coordinate executive sponsors, IT/business stakeholders, application owners, governance committees, and third-party archiving vendors.
• Experience defining data retention requirements, understanding healthcare regulatory/legal requirements, and establishing governance and decision criteria for application retirement.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Healthcare Information Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Project Management certification such as PMP is strongly preferred.

• Develop the project scope and objectives, and prepare a project plan outlining tasks and milestones with the archiving vendor.
• Gather and review relevant background information, including a current application inventory.
• Establish the Project Sponsor status meeting schedule, ensuring alignment of this project in accordance with the Epic deployment.
• Identify the Governance Structure and Advisory Committees that will be involved in decision-making.
• Define the Guiding Principles and Decision Criteria as they relate to application retirement, in accordance with organizational policies and legal regulations.
• Confirm the data retention requirements considering the organizational requirements and legal regulations; educate IT and organizational resources as necessary.
• Confirm legacy application and operations owners and conduct interviews to identify data use, user volume, etc.
• Lead the development of archiving options, approach, timeline, and resources with project stakeholders and the archiving vendor.
• Direct activities and collaborate to lead to organizational consensus on archiving strategy, leading to legacy application retirement.
• Project manage and execute on all project activities required to ensure successful retirement of the legacy applications.
• Document issues, risks, and mitigation, and elevate as appropriate to leadership.
• Document status on a weekly basis.

Education

The Archiving Project Manager will be responsible for the following as it relates to archiving data from legacy applications

Requirements
