The New York-New Jersey Trail Conference based in Mahwah, New Jersey, seeks an Archive Assistant for a temporary 6‑month, full‑time role. You will organize, digitize, and file materials to improve retention of program information and legally required records, and you will record metadata to enhance searchability and access for staff, volunteers and the public.

The New York-New Jersey Trail Conference is a volunteer-powered nonprofit dedicated to caring for public lands and trails and helping people responsibly enjoy the outdoors. The Archives of this 106 year old institution needs organizing to provide information about past and ongoing programs as well as retention of material required by law. This information would be available to staff, volunteers, and the public on a case by case basis.
Based in Mahwah, New Jersey, the Archive Assistant reports directly to the Cartographer and regularly coordinates with the Archivist who is the Archive Committee Chair.
Work is based at the Trail Conference headquarters, but hybrid arrangements may be available on a case by case basis, consistent with the organization’s Hybrid Work Policy and at the discretion of management.
The salary is $22.50 per hour. Benefits include matching 403(b), complimentary membership, 9 paid vacation days, 4.5 paid sick days, and 6 paid holidays for this temporary 6 month position.
