Job summary

The New School Archives and Special Collections, a unit of the New School Libraries and Archives, seeks a student to assist with scanning and photography of archival material, as well as some audio and video editing. The position offers 10 hours per week on campus, with a flexible schedule Monday–Friday between 10 am and 6 pm.

Qualifications

• Responsible, reliable, focused, and detail oriented.
• Familiar with basic scanning equipment and software.
• Ability to learn new software quickly.
• Technical understanding of digital photography.
• Familiar with studio lighting and setup.

Responsibilities

• Produce photographs of archival material with direction from archivist.
• Scan material adhering to archives’ standards and file naming conventions.
• Handle rare/fragile material with care; perform quality control.
• Create derivative files using Photoshop.
• Upload media and enter information into Collective Access cataloging software.
