Job summary

Cromwell Architects Engineers is seeking an A/E Mechanical Engineer or Designer to lead the design of HVAC systems, air distribution, and piping for diverse environments. The role collaborates with architects, engineers, and builders during construction to meet project requirements and codes.

The candidate will perform heating and cooling load calculations, develop specifications, and review drawings. Revit proficiency is required, and PE license is preferred but not mandatory.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• 5+ years’ experience in HVAC Systems, Field Surveys and Construction punch lists.
• PE license preferred but experience will be considered.
• Experience in Plumbing design is a plus.
• Proficiency in Revit is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and develop HVAC air distribution, hydronic piping, and control systems for various environments.
• Perform heating and cooling load calculations and verify designs with architects, engineers and builders during construction.
• Review drawings and specifications for conformance and feasibility.
• Conduct on-site inspections to ensure compliance with codes and standards.
• Mentor junior staff and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams.
• Travel up to 10% of time to project sites.

A/E Mechanical Engineer or Designer

Position Purpose

The Mechanical Engineer or Designer will lead design and develop specifications of air distribution, hydronic piping and HVAC control systems and heating and cooling load calculations for various environments. They will work closely with architects, engineers and builders during the construction phase.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage multi-discipline design teams on select small projects through construction.
• Perform heating and Cooling load calculations.
• HVAC system design to include Air distribution, Hydronic piping, System and Equipment selection and HVAC control systems.
• Prepare specifications based on design
• Review design drawings in relation to plans and specifications
• Perform assessments of existing building HVAC and plumbing systems.
• Perform on-site inspections during construction ensuring all systems meet local, state, and federal codes and standards.
• Stay updated on HVAC technologies and techniques, conduct experiments and field tests to evaluate new systems and materials.
• Meet with owners and understand project requirements.
• Mentor less experienced Engineers and interns
• All other duties as assigned.
• Travel: 10%
