Job summary

Hobbs+Black Architects is seeking an experienced architect to lead detailed construction documents for a diverse range of projects. The role focuses on building code compliance, project coordination, and client communication in a collaborative studio environment.

The candidate will contribute to design presentations, mentoring, and business development while advancing quality in healthcare, education, civic, and commercial spaces. Hybrid work supporting in-office collaboration is offered.

Qualifications

• Eight (8) or more years of related architectural work experience.
• Experience in the use of Revit to effectively produce quality documents.
• Proficient working in Bluebeam to review and coordinate team documentation.
• Proven effective presentation and communication skills.

Primary Focus

Our architectural staff balance project leadership with client management, team influence, and business development. This position is responsible for detailing of complicated project designs, or construction drawing assignments, with a project team based on technical proficiency, technical problem-solving expertise, work experience, and project constraints. We work with a variety of clients to create aesthetically pleasing, functional, and sustainable spaces for a broad range of projects in healthcare, education, civic, mixed-use, commercial, residential, and more.

Background in architecture with strong technical expertise to create and develop detailed construction documents applying their knowledge of and experience with building codes, building systems, site planning, zoning, bid packages, submittals, fieldwork, project scheduling, budgeting, and cost estimating.

Essential Functions

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Hybrid work format (3 days in office; 2 days remote).
• An authentic studio culture that values teamwork, flexibility, and a shared passion for design.
• Must be able to navigate project sites.
• Valid driver's license.
• English language communication and client interface skills.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States, without need for sponsorship.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in an architectural program.

Interior and exterior architectural detailing, Code review and compliance, Specifications, Site analysis and zoning review, Cost estimating, Schedule management, QA/QC review, Construction administration management, Consultant coordination.
