Job summary

Hobbs+Black Architects in Ann Arbor is seeking an Architect I to lead technical project delivery and begin mentoring others. This role focuses on detailing construction documents, code compliance, and coordinating with consultants within healthcare, education, and civic projects.

The position requires a professional degree in architecture (NCARB accredited), an architectural license (US preferred), and strong Revit/Bluebeam proficiency.

Qualifications

• Five (5) or more years of related architectural work experience.
• Architectural license (US preferred).
• Proficient in Revit to effectively produce quality documents.
• Experience working in Bluebeam to review and coordinate team documentation.
• Proven presentation and communication skills.

Primary Focus

Our Architect I’s lead technical project delivery while beginning to mentor others and support our firm’s initiatives. This position is responsible for detailing of project designs, or construction drawing assignments, with a project team based on technical proficiency, technical problem-solving expertise, work experience, and project constraints. We work with a variety of clients to create aesthetically pleasing, functional, and sustainable spaces for a broad range of projects in healthcare, education, civic, mixed-use, commercial, residential, and more. Background in architecture with strong technical expertise to create and develop detailed construction documents applying their knowledge of and experience with building codes, building systems, site planning, zoning, bid packages, submittals, fieldwork, project scheduling, budgeting, and cost estimating.

Experience

• Architectural license (US preferred).

• Proven presentation and communication skills.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Hybrid work format (3 days in office; 2 days remote).
• An authentic studio culture that values teamwork, flexibility, and a shared passion for design.
• Must be able to navigate project sites.
• Valid driver's license.
• English language communication and client interface skills.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States, without need for sponsorship.

Education

• Professional degree in architecture from an NCARB accredited program.
