SCOPE OF POSITION:

Responsible for growing sales by creating demand through specifications and developing, strengthening, and expanding relationships with architects, designers, GC’s, subcontractors, and engineers as necessary.

  • Identify, qualify, and develop project leads to build a pipeline of opportunities within the territory.
  • Create specification volume that meets or exceeds sales targets, representing CS’s core values of Creativity, Solution-driven approach, and Integrity. Conduct oneself professionally as a knowledgeable resource for successful project completion.

This position focuses on the Los Angeles territory. Candidate must reside within territory.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Generate, increase, and improve CS's basis of design specifications in the territory, tracking and closing opportunities to drive sales and margin. Support strategic projects outside the territory as needed.
  • Engage early in project design phases and track progress in CRM from bidding to closure.
  • Identify, qualify, and convert new project leads into CRM and pipeline.
  • Track promotional and bid projects in design to influence specifications within 12 months.
  • Use CRM consistently to capture accounts, contacts, and activities.
  • Influence design choices with key project influencers to promote CS solutions and create multi-product specifications.
  • Leverage CS's competitive advantages throughout the sales process to secure project specifications and sales.
  • Update architect specifications to expand CS's market presence and support project success.
  • Assist architects and designers in creating or modifying project specifications.
  • Collaborate with local representatives to expand coverage and avoid redundancy.
  • Establish and grow relationships within the architectural and design community, as well as with contractors and engineers on a project basis.
  • Recommend product solutions and service improvements to enhance customer satisfaction and sales.
  • Engage CS team resources, such as Product Specialists, for product sales within responsibilities.
  • Familiarity with installation practices and procedures.
  • Align CS value propositions with customer and project needs to differentiate CS in the market.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
  • 1–3 years' experience in construction, contracting, or related industry.
  • Strong desire for applied learning.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Developing sales strategies and solutions.
  • Results-oriented and self-motivated.
  • Experience with cold calling.
  • Team player with a focus on achieving both individual and team goals.
  • Proficiency in Windows-based applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical and advanced math skills.
  • Knowledge of the commercial construction process and architectural specification market, including working with contractors, estimating, pricing, and discounts.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain external relationships.
