Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking an Architectural Project Manager to join the Texas Construction Projects team at the McGregor campus. You will design, build, and activate infrastructure for diverse projects, owning tasks from planning to delivery in a fast-paced environment.

You will coordinate with stakeholders, manage contracts, and drive cost control and scheduling across disciplines to deliver on-time, within budget facilities that support our space exploration mission.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an architecture or engineering discipline.
  • 1+ years of professional experience in architecture, engineering, construction management, or facilities management.
  • Experience managing multiple vertical projects.
  • Experience with project management and scheduling software.
  • Design experience in a technical field.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Knowledge of permitting processes and environmental agencies.
  • Understanding of civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, piping, geotechnical, and surveying disciplines.
  • Experience with major construction projects including estimating, cost control, schedule, and contractor management.
  • Ability to read, review, and approve shop drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team; strong communication.
  • Manufacturing facility experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with stakeholders to build capital projects from planning to final delivery.
  • Expedite the design process and solve conflicts during construction.
  • Write and manage construction contracts with subcontractors across multiple disciplines through contract close-out.
  • Perform project control tasks, including scheduling, budgeting, and cost control.
  • Resolve design and construction conflicts in the field in real time.
  • Oversee full lifecycle of tasks and/or projects to achieve on-time and under-budget delivery.
  • Manage tools and folder systems related to construction projects.
  • Provide budgetary costs based on the preliminary scope.
  • Gather proposals from architects, engineers, and contractors; assign contracts after proposals.
  • Develop final cost and schedule and implement controls for scope.
  • Facilitate city, county, and governmental approvals.
  • Coordinate project implementation and track status.
  • Coordinate with facilities team for building operations and maintenance post-construction.
  • Coordinate with end user for building operations and maintenance.
  • Manage night shift contractors as project work requires.
  • Take on new projects ad-hoc as needed.

ARCHITECTURAL PROJECT MANAGER

As a member of the Texas Construction Projects team, you will work with a group of elite engineers and specialists across multiple disciplines to design, build, and activate infrastructure for a variety of projects at the the company McGregor Campus. This role is responsible for the design, build, and activation of infrastructure, facilities improvements and large capital projects. You will have the opportunity to drive positive change in a fast-paced and low-drag environment. This includes owning tasks/projects from start to finish, with the goal of making the the company campus a world-class facility that can support the mission of enabling life beyond Earth. This position is based in McGregor, Texas (Waco area).

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Coordinates with stake holders to build small to large capital projects across the site, including managing all phases of the project from planning to final delivery
  • Uses architecture/engineering knowledge to expedite the design process and solve for conflicts during construction
  • Write and manage construction contracts with subcontractors across multiple disciplines through contract close-out
  • Perform project control tasks, including project scheduling, budgeting, and cost control
  • Resolve design and construction conflicts in the field in real time
  • Oversee and own full lifecycle of tasks and/or projects to achieve on-time and under budget delivery with customer satisfaction. The following project management responsibilities are applicable:
    • Manage tools and folder systems relating to the organization of our construction projects
    • Provide budgetary costs based upon the preliminary scope of the project
    • Gather proposals from architects, engineers and contractors; assign contracts upon receipt of all proposals
    • Develop the final cost and schedule for the project, and implement controls as needed to manage cost, schedule and scope
    • Facilitate city, county, and governmental approvals
    • Coordinate project implementation and track project status
    • Work with the facilities team and end user in order to operationalize the post-construction building operations and maintenance functions
    • Coordinate with end user and facilities team for building operations and maintenance
    • Manage night shift contractors as project work requires
    • Take on new projects ad-hoc as the business needs
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in an architecture or engineering discipline
  • 1+ years of professional experience in architecture, engineering, construction management, or facilities management
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience managing multiple vertical projects
  • Previous experience with project management and scheduling software
  • Design experience in a technical field
  • Basic proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit
  • Knowledge of processes of jurisdictional permitting and/or environmental agencies
  • Understanding of multiple disciplines such as civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, piping, geotechnical, and surveying
  • Experience with project management of major construction projects including estimating, cost control, schedule, and contractor management
  • Experience reading, reviewing, and approving shop and fabrication drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals
  • Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while maintaining a high sense of urgency in a high-paced, challenging work environment
  • Ability to work independently and in a team, take initiative, and communicate effectively
  • Manufacturing facility experience
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Role may require extended hours, weekend work and shift schedules, that vary depending on site operational needs; flexibility required
  • Ability to work at elevated heights
  • Physical effort with lifting and carrying materials or equipment (up to 25 lbs.)
  • Typically exposed to work in extreme outdoor environments – heat, cold, rain
  • Work performed in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noise
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Occasional travel may be required to support projects at other sites
