Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC in McGregor, Texas is seeking a Sr. Civil Engineer to lead the design, build, and activation of infrastructure for the McGregor Rocket Development Facility and other company sites. You will own tasks from concept through completion to support launching missions.

You will develop drawings, perform grading and utilities calculations, and coordinate with contractors, vendors, and internal teams to meet schedule, cost, and quality goals in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • 6+ years of professional civil engineering design, analysis, and drafting experience.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD/Civil3D is preferred.
  • Ability to obtain local, state, and federal permits related to land development and utilities.
  • Experience managing civil projects in field with multi-discipline teams.

SR. CIVIL ENGINEER

As a member of the Texas Construction Projects team, you will work with a group of elite engineers and specialists across multiple disciplines to design, build, and activate infrastructure for a variety of projects at the McGregor Rocket Development Facility as well as other the company facilities. This role is responsible for the design, build, and activation of infrastructure, facility improvements, and large capital projects. You will have the opportunity to drive positive change in a fast-paced and low-drag environment. This includes owning tasks/projects from start to finish, with the goal of making the the company campus a world-class facility that can support the mission of enabling life beyond Earth. This position is based in McGregor, Texas (Central Texas area).

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop and issue drawings, design documentation, and reports for aerospace, industrial, and commercial type land development projects
  • Perform all calculations necessary for grading and drainage, stormwater control facilities, water quality, domestic water distribution, and other underground utilities
  • Drive coordination and design necessary to obtain local, state, and federal permits as it relates to land development and utility construction projects
  • Manage the civil aspects of construction projects in the field; including quality control, conflict resolution, and coordination of a multi-discipline contractor team
  • Interact with contractors, fabricators, owners, and internal clients to develop project requirements, schedule, and cost estimates prior to project implementation
  • Resolve design and construction conflicts in the field in real time
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • 6+ years of professional experience in civil engineering design, analysis, and drafting
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Basic proficiency with AutoCAD/Civil3D
  • Develop and issue drawings, design documentation, and reports for aerospace, industrial, and commercial type land development projects
  • Perform all calculations necessary for grading and drainage, stormwater control facilities, water quality, domestic water distribution, and other underground utilities
  • Drive coordination and design necessary to obtain local, state, and federal permits as it relates to land development and utility construction projects
  • Manage the civil aspects of construction projects in the field; including quality control, conflict resolution, and coordination of a multi-discipline contractor team
  • Interact with contractors, fabricators, owners, and internal clients to develop project requirements, schedule, and cost estimates prior to project implementation
  • Resolve design and construction conflicts in the field in real time
  • Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while maintaining a high sense of urgency in a high-paced, challenging work environment
  • Experience with project management of major construction projects including estimating, cost control, schedule, and contractor management
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Role may require extended hours, weekend work and shift schedules, that vary depending on site operational needs; flexibility required
  • Ability to work on ladders, lifts, and at elevated heights (up to 300 feet) with proper PPE
  • Ability to respond to emergencies to support priority projects, missions, and launches
  • Must be able to work in extreme outdoor environments when needed – heat, cold, wind, rain, etc.
  • Must be able to work in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noise
  • Must be willing to travel to other the company sites when needed (up to 30%)
