Architectural Project Coordinator
MC3 Group

McLean, VA | Full-Time | Hybrid

About MC3 Group

MC3 Group is looking for an Architectural Project Coordinator to support our Project Architect, General Contractor, ownership team, and broader design-build operation.

This is a hands‑on coordination and drafting role for someone who understands architectural drawings, enjoys working through project details, and wants to help move projects from design into production and construction.

The right person will help with drafting, drawing revisions, project documentation, design approvals, selections, coordination, and communication between the architectural and construction teams.

This is not primarily an administrative role. We are looking for someone who can contribute technically, stay ahead of project details, and help ensure that approved designs are translated into accurate, buildable information for the field.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who understands buildings, drawings, and project coordination and who wants to grow within an integrated architecture and construction environment.

Strong candidates may come from an architecture firm, residential design practice, custom homebuilder, design‑build company, drafting role, or construction coordination position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Project Architect with drafting, drawing production, revisions, details, and construction documentation.
  • Assist with plans, elevations, sections, details, and other architectural documents.
  • Help move projects from schematic design and design development into construction‑ready documentation.
  • Incorporate design changes, field information, consultant input, and owner direction into current project documents.
  • Maintain accurate and organized drawing sets and project files.
  • Review drawings and project information for completeness and coordination.
  • Support the General Contractor and construction team with drawings, specifications, clarifications, and updated information.
  • Assist with RFIs, field questions, revisions, and other construction‑related documentation.
  • Track outstanding design decisions, approvals, selections, revisions, and project information.
  • Coordinate information between architecture, design, construction, subcontractors, vendors, and ownership.
  • Support the Principal Architect with specification review, design approvals, selections, and design‑to‑production coordination.
  • Help ensure that approved selections and design decisions are reflected accurately in the project documents.
  • Prepare information for project meetings and assist with follow‑up on outstanding action items.
  • Help identify missing information or coordination issues before they create delays in the field.
  • Support multiple active projects and help keep deadlines, deliverables, and priorities moving forward.
  • Perform administrative duties as directed
Preferred qualifications include:
  • 2+ years of experience in architecture, drafting, residential design, construction documentation, or project coordination.
  • Experience reading and working with architectural plans, elevations, sections, details, and specifications.
  • Experience with architectural drafting or modeling software (previous Revit experience is preferred but not required).
  • Strong attention to detail and document accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and follow‑through skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
  • Comfortable communicating with architects, designers, contractors, vendors, and field teams.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with the broader team.
  • Willingness to ask questions, solve problems, and take ownership of assignments.

Experience with residential architecture, custom homes, renovations, additions, permitting, or design‑build construction is especially valuable.

An architectural license is not required.

The Right Fit

The person who will thrive in this role is someone who naturally thinks ahead and asks questions such as:

  1. What still needs to be decided?
  2. Has that change made it onto the drawings?
  3. What information is the field waiting on?
  4. Does everyone have the most current information?
  5. What could delay this project if we do not address it now?

We are looking for someone who takes pride in keeping projects organized and helping turn good design into a successful finished project.
