Job summary

The West Virginia Board of Architects seeks an Executive Director to lead the board's daily operations, manage all applications and renewals for architectural practice in WV, and oversee procurement and budgeting.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication, organizational and leadership skills, be a WV resident and U.S. citizen, and be willing to travel and stay current with state laws and rules governing architecture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
• Six years of paid administrative, professional or technical experience in the area of assignment.
• Graduate study in an appropriate field may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
• Citizen of the United States, resident of WV, valid WV driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Register applicants for initial and reciprocal registrations and annual renewal of registration to practice architecture in West Virginia.
• Manage and update all online applications in the board’s online licensing management system.
• Conduct an annual audit of continuing education (CE) submitted during annual renewal for compliance with CE requirements.
• Address daily correspondence received by the board through mail, email and phone.
• Act as procurement officer for the board; purchase supplies and equipment for efficient operation.
• Maintain proper use of the State of WV P-Card for purchases including travel and office supplies.
• Attend required training for P-Card use and ethics; manage annual testing.
• Develop the Annual Expenditure Schedule and oversee the board’s budget.
• Pay monthly expenses using WV OASIS; manage payroll in WV OASIS system and per diem payments.
• Assist the President and Secretary in planning and distributing information for quarterly meetings.
• Complete travel reimbursements and plan travel for board members to state and national meetings.
• Travel to meetings four to six times a year as a board representative.
• Maintain board files and respond to information requests from state officials.
• Track proposed legislation during sessions that may affect practice, health, safety and welfare.
• Review and update legislative and procedural Rules; participate in Legislative Rule-Making Review and testify.
• Review complaints against architects; coordinate with AG's office; provide status reports.
• Update the board’s website and produce an online quarterly newsletter.
• Oversee board property in Fixed Assets; maintain relationships with professional organizations.
