Job summary

ASC Group, Inc. in Indianapolis, IN, seeks an Architectural Historian - Principal Investigator to evaluate eligibility for the National Register and perform Section 106 compliance with DOT, DHPA, and SHPO coordination.

The candidate will work with archaeologists and environmental scientists, requiring a Master’s or BA and 5+ years in cultural resource management, with strong communication and teamwork skills. In-office attendance is required, with potential remote work after 90 days.

Qualifications

  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in Architectural History, Historic Preservation, History, Art History, or closely related field.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in cultural resource management, Section 106 regulations and compliance, and determinations of eligibility for the National Register of Historic Places.
  • Experience with Indiana DHPA and Indiana DOT Cultural Resources Office preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate eligibility of historic buildings for National Register listing and Section 106 compliance.
  • Prepare Section 4(f) determinations and coordinate with DOT, DHPA, SHPO and other agencies.
  • Conduct literature reviews, field investigations, and prepare Historic Resource Survey Forms and determinations of effect.
  • Develop proposals, cost estimates, and communicate with clients and agencies.
