Job summary
Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope in Chicago seeks an experienced Estimator to provide detailed, timely cost estimates for architectural aluminum systems such as curtainwalls, storefronts, and skylights. You will analyze plans to identify material and labor needs while aligning with project specs.
You will take-offs, build BOMs, prepare bids, and collaborate with engineering and sales to offer value engineering that helps win projects.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years estimating experience in commercial glazing or architectural metal.
- Strong ability to read architectural blueprints and shop drawings.
- Proficient in Bluebeam Revu and Excel for cost analysis.
- Deep understanding of glazing systems including curtainwall and storefronts.
- Able to communicate technical details clearly to customers and internal teams.
Responsibilities
- Detailed take-offs for aluminum and related hardware using digital tools.
- Develop BOMs for curtainwalls, storefronts, and entrances.
- Review Division 08 specs to ensure thermal, structural, and aesthetic requirements.
- Calculate total project costs including materials and manufacturing labor.
- Prepare bid packages and quotations for glazing contractors and general contractors.
- Collaborate with engineering and sales to provide VE options.
