Job summary

Professional Engineering Consultants in Wichita, KS seeks an Engineering Intern to assist with design on multiple projects, perform calculations by hand and with software, and prepare design deliverables using BIM/CAD tools.

Candidates must be pursuing a BS in Engineering or related field with a 3.0+ GPA, preferably a junior or senior. Strong communication and work ethic are valued; Fundamentals of Engineering is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Junior or Senior year preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist design on multiple projects under supervision.
  • Perform design calculations by hand and with software.
  • Draft/model engineering design and coordinate with staff.
  • Prepare construction documents and specs per codes/design criteria.
  • Review deliverables for compliance with standards.
  • Organize project information per corporate practices.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Job description

The Engineering Intern will be responsible for assisting with design on multiple projects, performing standard engineering calculations, and preparing design deliverables for a variety of projects. This position utilizes BIM/CAD software, hand calculations, and computer-based calculations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Under the direction of a Project Engineer or Design Engineer, performs the following:
  • Design calculations by hand and by computer software.
  • Drafting/modeling of engineering design.
  • Coordination with other design staff.
  • Construction document and specification production in compliance with applicable building codes/design criteria.
  • Reviews project deliverables for compliance with design checklists and drafting standards.
  • Organize project information and files according to corporate standard practices and workflows.
  • Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company's discretion.
Special Knowledge, skills and abilities:
  • Ability to workindependently and with others.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Experience with computer aided drafting and modeling using industry accepted software.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office and Bluebeam.
Education and Experience:
  • Currently pursuing a BS degree in Engineering or a related field from an accredited university.
  • Must have a 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Student entering junior or senior year preferred
License and Certification:
  • Successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering Exam preferred

At times, bending, reaching, standing, and walking may be required.
