Job summary

Ameriscan Designs in Illinois is seeking a CAD Designer to create shop drawings and program products for manufacturing. You will read architectural drawings and produce accurate 2D and 3D drawings using AutoCAD and Microvellum, collaborating with project managers and shop staff.

This role requires knowledge of cabinetry construction, AWI standards, and the ability to deliver precise submittals. A bachelor’s degree is preferred and 2+ years of related experience are desirable.

Qualifications

• Read and understand architectural drawings.
• Create architectural submittal drawings.
• Draw from scratch, quality 2D and 3D drawings and models.
• Demonstrate understanding of cabinetry construction and terminology.
• Follow complex directions and incorporate redline revisions into shop drawing submittals.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred and 2+ years of related experience.
• Experience with Microvellum, AutoCAD drafting, architectural millwork drafting.
• Knowledge of woodworking standards and AWI standards.

Responsibilities

Ameriscan Designs is an American-based millwork construction company that specializes in providing architectural millwork, custom cabinetry, plastic laminates, complex solid surface fabrication, architectural doors and frames as well as metals, glass, stone and upholstery. Our manufacturing philosophy is to build everything on site, so that we may control quality and offer the shortest lead-time in the industry.

This position is primarily responsible for creating shop drawings (in AutoCAD/Microvellum) to submit to the customer (General Contractor & Architect). This position is also responsible for using these drawings to program products that will be manufactured by Ameriscan Designs shop employees. The shift is 6:00am - 2:30pm.

• Read and understand architectural drawings
• Create architectural submittal drawings
