Job summary

WSP USA in Baltimore is seeking an Architectural Designer to support due diligence, planning, and design development across public and private sector projects. You will prepare drawings, budgets, and construction documents, while collaborating with engineers, planners, and specialists to ensure safety, sustainability, and compliance.

Qualified candidates have a Bachelor’s in Architecture and 3–5 years of post‑graduate experience, with proficiency in MicroStation, AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or closely related discipline.
  • 3–5 years of relevant post‑education experience.
  • Knowledge of architectural principles, practices, process, and application to project work‑related issues.
  • Experience with building planning, drawing standards, design, and construction management.
  • Proficient creative, visualization, and technical drawing skills.
  • Knowledge of sustainability and green building design.
  • Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and record‑keeping requirements.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills for technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Experience with discipline‑specific design software (MicroStation, AutoCAD, REVIT, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite).

Responsibilities

  • Assist with preparation of detailed drawings showing both external and internal appearance and structure of building projects.
  • Collect and analyze data from site surveys, maps, and environmental data for design and development.
  • Perform professional architectural work and inspect site conditions for conformance with standards.
  • Participate in advanced modeling and design requirements for safe and functional spaces.
  • Collaborate with engineers, planners, and professionals to execute project work and guide construction.
  • Verify site and structural characteristics for safety and compliance.
  • Prepare data visualizations, renderings, and 2D/3D illustrations for presentation of findings.
  • Maintain quality control standards for measurements, drawings, and documentation.
  • Assist with development and scoping of small‑to‑medium projects.
  • Contribute to technical reports and presentations addressing design issues.
