Job summary

AECOM is seeking a creative and experienced Architectural Designer to join our team in Boston. This role, often called a job captain, leads task teams, solves design and technical challenges, and contributes to all project phases from concept through construction administration.

You will collaborate with Project Managers, lead designers, Principals, BIM leaders, QA/QC reviewers, and other practice leaders to ensure on-time, on-budget, high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture with 4+ years of related experience.
• Ability to obtain a Massachusetts Registered Architecture license within 12 months from date of employment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and organize architectural drawing sets across SD, DD, CD, and CA, ensuring alignment with client, design, and firm goals.
• Seek out and apply industry knowledge and advanced technical expertise to solve design and technical challenges.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to responsibilities with a positive, team-oriented outlook and innovative contributions.
• Analyze issues, identify solutions, and propose approaches for novel challenges.
• Coordinate work across disciplines and departments.
• Exercise independent judgment in determining work execution and review/approve conceptual designs as required.
• Advocate for process improvements and adapt to new workflows or changing assignments.
• Build consensus across teams and departments.
