Job summary

HED seeks an Architectural Designer IV to lead PreK-12 projects in the California market from the San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento, or Los Angeles offices. The role guides technical delivery from early design through construction under supervision, with a focus on DSA compliance and strong design thinking.

A Bachelor of Science in Architecture and 8+ years of experience are required. Revit proficiency is preferred; Revizto, UpCodes, and RIB Speclink are also desirable.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Architecture (4-year degree) required.
  • 8+ years of professional experience with a technical delivery focus.
  • Experience with PreK-12 and DSA required.
  • LEED Accreditation preferred.
  • Proficiency in Revit; Revizto/UpCodes/RIB Speclink preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the architectural scope, create and manage the Discipline Work Plan with the Project Manager.
  • Develop coordinated construction documents with code compliance and quality.
  • Coordinate work across design and engineering disciplines, consultants, and production teams.
  • Manage AHJ interactions during permitting with senior leadership support as needed.
  • Conduct material, product, and building systems research to support design decisions.
  • Lead construction administration tasks: RFIs, submittals, field reports, and coordination with contractors.
  • Serve as Architect of Record as determined by project leadership.
  • Mentor junior staff and support professional development.
