Job summary

HED seeks an Architectural Designer II to support PreK–12 projects in the San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento, or Los Angeles. You’ll assist project teams from early design through construction under supervision, developing technical detailing and design skills in a collaborative, learning-focused environment.

This role emphasizes mentorship, coordination with consultants, and adherence to the HED Design Process.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Architecture (4‑year) required.
• 3+ years in A/E industry with architecture experience.
• Proficiency in Revit and knowledge of building codes.
• LEED accreditation or sustainability credential preferred.
• Strong written and verbal English communication; team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Support Project Architect and ensure design and technical quality.
• Collaborate with engineers/consultants using Revizto.
• Assist with project delivery per HED Design Process guidelines.
• Contribute to staff direction and project delivery strategies.
• Communicate design intent through documentation with limited direction.
• Coordinate with project team disciplines; participate in meetings.
• Mentor junior team members and manage tasks as needed.
