Job summary

SmithGroup Denver is seeking an Architectural Designer to join our team. The role develops planning and design concepts, coordinates drawings, and ensures alignment with codes and external requirements.

You will mentor junior staff and assist in construction administration on projects across healthcare, science and technology, workplaces and more. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture with 5+ years of experience, Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp and Adobe Creative

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience.
  • LEED AP preferred; must be eligible to take the ARE within a few years.
  • Working knowledge of engineering systems and ability to engage with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Experience using Revit to produce construction documents; proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.

Responsibilities

  • Create and develop planning and design concepts; support senior planners and architects on large projects.
  • Prepare and coordinate architectural drawings, renderings, specifications and design assignments under general supervision.
  • Relate building design concepts to codes, zoning and other external issues.
  • Consult with manufacturers; research and propose materials and products.
  • Prepare and create presentation drawings/graphics for internal and external presentations.
  • Mentor and train junior staff.
  • Assist in construction administration including responding to RFIs, preparing sketches/addenda, visiting sites for information/punch lists.
