Job description

Piechota Architecture is an architecture studio based in San Francisco's South of Market neighborhood, focusing on high-end residential design. With nearly three decades of experience, we create architecture that is deliberate without being loud, and subtle without being quiet, work that punctuates the straightforward with the nuanced.

We believe that a thoughtfully designed and finely crafted personal space is not just an expression of aesthetic sensibility, it enhances function and restores well-being, clarity, and harmony. Our projects celebrate the textural richness of California's most spectacular settings and we are committed to site-specific, modern, and highly crafted architecture that integrates seamlessly with the landscape.

Position Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Architectural Designer to join our tight-knit team. This role works directly with the principal and project architects on meaningful residential and hospitality projects. You'll contribute to all phases of design, from conceptual sketching through construction administration, while developing your craft in a studio that values creativity, initiative, and thoughtful design.

Primary Responsibilities
  1. Prepare and develop architectural documents, including elevations, sections, and construction details using Archicad and other design software
  2. Collaborate with Project Architects and Project Managers to understand and adhere to project work plans and timelines
  3. Participate in all phases of project delivery, from schematic design through construction administration
  4. Coordinate with consultants and project team members to ensure design integrity and quality
  5. Create presentation materials, including renderings, models, and design drawings for client reviews
  6. Conduct research on building codes, zoning regulations, materials, and sustainable design practices
  7. Attend site visits and provide in-field support during construction phases
  8. Work closely with cross-functional teams to meet aggressive project deadlines
  9. Contribute creative design concepts and problem-solving approaches to project challenges
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited program
  • 2-5 years of professional experience post grad
  • Proficiency in ArchiCAD preferred (not required)
  • Demonstrated expertise in SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)
  • Understanding of building systems, construction methods, and materials
  • Knowledge of building codes, zoning regulations, and accessibility standards
  • Strong technical drawing and detailing skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities
  • Interest in materiality, craftsmanship, and the integration of architecture with its environment
What We Offer
  • Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k)
  • Every Other Friday Off (compressed work schedule)
  • Generous vacation and holidays
  • Professional development support
  • Hybrid flexibility with collaborative in-office culture
