Job summary

Mammoth, a New York-based design-build studio, seeks an Intermediate Project Designer or Architect to lead construction document development for 2-4 projects. You’ll collaborate with Principals, consultants, vendors, and clients, guiding design and build from concept to completion.

Role sits at the intersection of design and construction; expect site reviews, shop drawing reviews, and hands-on involvement with documentation and coordination.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
• 3+ years architectural-related experience, typical.
• Strong conceptual and design process skills with problem-solving ability.
• Working knowledge of construction standards, codes, materials, and systems.
• REVIT experience is required; AutoCAD and Adobe Suite are desirable.
• Ability to sketch by hand and present concepts clearly to clients.
• Effective written and spoken communication; able to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Own development and delivery of construction documents for 2-4 projects.
• Coordinate with consultants, vendors, and clients; shape design and build.
• Review shop drawings and walk jobsites; refine drawing sets.
• Prepare and manage construction documents, weekly client updates, and minutes.
• Track budgets, long-lead items, and finish selections; approve submittals.
• Walk the site regularly; monitor construction quality and punchlists.
• Lead client and internal coordination meetings; mentor junior staff.
• Contribute to firm-wide efforts to improve drawing quality and consistency.

The Role

We're looking for an Intermediate Project Designer or Architect to own the development and delivery of construction documents on 2-4 projects at a time. You'll work closely with our Principals, coordinating with consultants, vendors, and clients while helping shape both the design and the build. This role sits at the intersection of design and construction - you'll be as comfortable reviewing shop drawings and walking a job site as you are refining a drawing set.

What You'll Do

• Translate design objectives into buildable construction systems, maintaining quality and design control throughout
• Coordinate with consultants, the construction team, and Principals to keep projects on schedule and flag issues early
• Prepare and manage construction documents, weekly client updates, and meeting minutes
• Track budgets, long-lead items, and finish material selections; review and approve submittals and shop drawings
• Walk the site regularly, monitor construction quality, and manage punchlists through final inspection
• Lead client and internal coordination meetings; mentor junior design and drafting staff
• Contribute to firm-wide efforts to improve drawing quality, process, and technical consistency

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture required. Master’s degree in Architecture preferred
• 3+ years of architectural-related experience, typical.
• Must have solid conceptual and design process skills and good problem-solving abilities.
• Reasonable knowledge of construction standards and codes, materials, and building systems.
• Experience using REVIT is required. Experience using Autocad is desirable.
• Experience using ADOBE-Suite is desirable
• Ability to communicate via hand sketching expected.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively create presentations and communicate concepts to clients and associates using excellent drawing skills and various software applications.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
