Awnex is looking for a seasoned Architectural CAD Drafter III to take on our most demanding drawing packages — and to help sharpen the drafters coming up behind them.

This is a role for someone who has put in the years behind AutoCAD, who catches the error before it becomes a 400-piece production run, and who takes pride in a drawing set that a fabrication team can pick up and trust without a single follow-up question.

Qualifications

• Extensive, hands-on AutoCAD experience with years of daily production drafting.
• Recent experience in a 3D CAD environment (Fusion 360, Inventor, Revit, SolidWorks, or similar).
• Experience with architectural metal systems, structural steel, or sheet metal fabrication drawings.
• Demonstrated ability to independently check and correct drawing sets.
• Comfort mentoring or reviewing the work of less experienced drafters and standardizing drawing conventions.
• Strong working knowledge of AIA/AEC drawing standards and document control practices.
• Clear, professional communication with engineering, fabrication, and clients.
• Full-time, on-site role in Ball Ground, GA; candidates within 25 miles preferred; hybrid considered.

Responsibilities

• Produce architectural CAD drawings for curtain walls, column covers, and wall panel systems.
• Ensure drawings are production-ready and free of errors.
• Collaborate with engineering and fabrication teams.
• Mentor teammates and standardize drawing conventions across the team.
• Maintain document control per AIA/AEC standards.

You'll work directly on the architectural metal systems that end up on real buildings — curtain walls, column covers, wall panel systems — with the autonomy that comes from having earned it. If you're the drafter your team already calls when something needs to be right the first time, we want to talk to you.

Requirements

• Extensive, hands-on AutoCAD experience — this is the single most important qualification for this role. We're looking for genuine depth, not a checkbox: years of daily production drafting, not occasional exposure.
• Recent experience in a 3D CAD environment (Fusion 360, Inventor, Revit, SolidWorks, or similar) — the specific platform matters less than proven, current fluency in 3D modeling workflows.
• Experience with architectural metal systems, structural steel, or sheet metal fabrication drawings strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to independently check and correct drawing sets — someone who catches costly mistakes before they reach the shop floor.
• Comfort mentoring or reviewing the work of less experienced drafters, and helping standardize drawing conventions across a team.
• Strong working knowledge of AIA/AEC drawing standards and document control practices.
• Clear, professional communication — you'll work directly with engineering, fabrication, and sometimes clients.
• This is a full-time, on-site role in Ball Ground, GA. Only candidates residing within 25 miles of Ball Ground will be considered; hybrid arrangements may be considered.
