Job summary

NV5 is seeking an Acoustical Consultant to join the architectural acoustics practice. You will act as a primary acoustical consultant on diverse national and regional projects, delivering room acoustics, isolation, and environmental acoustics solutions.

The role is based in the U.S. and can be work-from-home, with opportunities in major markets; on-site travel may be required. The candidate will create drawings, reports, and perform on-site testing to support design work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in acoustics or related field (acoustics/physics/engineering).
• 5–10 years’ experience as a consultant in architectural acoustics.
• INCE Board Certification preferred.
• Expertise across room acoustics, sound isolation, controls, and environmental acoustics.
• Strong attention to detail and client-facing communication.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to project design with creative, evidence-based acoustics.
• Collaborate with architectural teams and clients.
• Develop reports, sketches, drawings, details, and cost analyses.
• Analyze acoustical solutions using modeling software.
• Review submittals and shop drawings.
• Perform on-site acoustics testing and noise surveys.
• Coordinate with principals and marketing for business development.
• Attend meetings and site visits, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery.
• Maintain NV5 standards of quality and flexibility on multiple projects.
