Job description

We are seeking a part-time Architect (20–30 hours per week) who is licensed in Massachusetts and holds an active NCARB certification. The ideal candidate will bring a strong portfolio of commercial work and demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Experience in healthcare architecture is a plus. Adler, Inc. is fully remote. Candidates from outside the Massachusetts area are welcome to apply if they meet the criteria. The position may require some travel for project field work and construction administration.

Key Responsibilities
In this role, the architect will be responsible for:

  • Communicating effectively and professionally via phone and internet-based platforms
  • Producing high-quality, well-coordinated construction documents
  • Developing realistic project timelines and consistently meeting deadlines
  • Performing occasional site visits for construction administration, including generating field observation reports and coordinating with consultants and contractors
  • Managing commercial projects through all phases—from concept through closeout

The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency and experience in the following areas:

  • Use of AutoCAD Architecture for design and documentation
  • Familiarity with applicable codes, including IBC , ADA , green building codes , energy efficiency standards , and state/local jurisdictional amendments
  • Experience with Microsoft Project and developing project schedules
  • Establishing project-specific design criteria and assembling MasterSpec specifications
  • Coordinating and producing multi-disciplinary drawing sets
  • Researching requirements and applying for building permits
  • Overseeing construction administration , including implementing quality control measures
  • Working knowledge of AIA contract documents
  • Minimum of 5 years of project management experience, ideally in commercial or healthcare architecture
