Job summary

Bloomberg Industry Group is seeking an experienced engineering leader to build and manage a high-performing full-stack team in Arlington, TX. You will drive DEVOPS and Agile practices, guide architectural decisions, and mentor engineers to deliver scalable, high-availability software across multiple domains.

You will collaborate with product partners to estimate efforts, shape technical direction, and ensure observability, security, and cost efficiency while maintaining a strong engineering

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of software development experience and/or commensurate skills building commercial applications with modern software engineering practices.
• Team leadership experience and strong interpersonal skills.
• Experience reducing the complexity of projects and processes to improve efficiency.
• Proven influencer and thought leader in distributed software delivery teams using Agile/Scrum and DevSecOps.
• Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Serverless, microservices) and modern architectures.
• Proficiency in JavaScript, Node.js, Java or Python, and frameworks such as React or Vue.js.
• Experience with full software development lifecycle, coding standards, architecture patterns, code reviews, CI/CD and operations.

Job description

You are responsible for developing and managing high-performing, full stack team of software engineers to develop software using DEVOPS and Agile/Lean principles. You will work with peers and team members to create and maintain great products that support the business vision, while looking for ways to further optimize the engineering and product development process. You will provide strong technical guidance, anticipate technical issues at the product level, and make architectural and design decisions to avoid them.

What you will do:

• Directly a rchitect, design and deliver high-quality code and e nsure high standards of technical development are adhered by your team including observability, stability, scalability, security, performance, and cost effectiveness.
• Shape broad architecture; ships multiple large services, complex libraries, or major pieces of infrastructure and influence best practices across teams .
• Work with product team to estimate level of effort for projects and evaluate tradeoffs to ensure maximum impact with team resources.
• Guide the team on modern software development best practices and technical direction while providing hands-on development and problem solving assistance .
• Successfully manage projects and collaborate with partners and stakeholders to deliver value to the business .
• Help foster an inclusive environment where our culture is a strength in delivering results for our customers , our team, and our business .
• Lead special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

You'll need to have:

• Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience.
• 8 years of software development experience and/or commensurate skills building commercial applications with modern software engineering practices.
• Team leadership experience and strong interpersonal skills.
• Experience reducing the complexity of projects, services, and processes to get more done with less work.
• A track record of being a strong influencer and thought leader in the full software development life cycle of distributed software delivery teams using Agile/Scrum and DevSecOps practices.
• Demonstrated experience of cloud technologies i.e. AWS, Serverless, Event Driven Architecture, SOA, MicroServices , Microfrontend , CI/CD, Infrastructure as code, and other modern technologies.
• Demonstrated expertise with JavaScript, Node.js, Java or Python, and frameworks such as React or VUE.js.
• Demonstrated experience of professional software engineering practices and the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, architecture/design patterns, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.

Compensation Range:

$175,000.00-$220,000.00

Placement in the salary range will be decided upon completion of the interview process. Salary determination will be determined based on factors including but not limited to relevant experience, demonstrated skills related to the requirements of the role, education, certifications, and geographic location.
