Safdie Architects is seeking a licensed Architect II with 10+ years of professional experience to join our design practice in a full-time, in-studio role in Somerville, MA. The candidate will lead design concepts, manage project assignments, and coordinate with internal teams and outside consultants.

You will be fluent with architectural standards, work across diverse project types, and mentor junior staff.

Architect II

Safdie Architects is seeking a licensed Architect II with 10-20 years of experience with exceptional design, communication, and interpersonal skills to join our design practice. This is a full-time, in-studio position.

Key responsibilities include:

The Architect II works directly with the firm’s Partners to develop design concepts and architectural ideas, and shall be able to be responsible for the leadership, management, and completion of project assignments. The Architect II shares in the responsibility for organizing and coordinating the efforts of all members of the design team, including outside consultant team members. The Architect II shall be fluent with Architectural Standards as a seasoned and licensed architect. Given the diversity of the firm’s projects, with regards to project type, scale and geographic location, the Architect II needs to be extremely nimble and comfortable working within such diversity.

Prerequisites:

• Minimum ten years of professional experience, plus licensure
• Experience in AutoCAD, Rhino, Adobe Suite and rendering software (Enscape, Lumion, V-Ray) required
• Proficiency in Revit and experience with BIM required
• Skills in the production of concept, schematic design, and design development documents required
• Experience with the design and detailing of large-scale, programmatically complex, public and private architectural projects required
• Strong technical knowledge of both rational and complex geometries required
• Investigative nature and superior problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated ability to effectively lead teams of junior staff
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, work collaboratively, and coordinate with project teams, engineering consultants, and other collaborators
• Highly motivated with a willingness to assume both project-wide and office-related responsibility
• All applicants must have the authorization to work within the United States

Salary range:

$90,000–$110,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
