Job summary

Gresham Smith in Birmingham, AL is seeking an experienced Architect to lead the delivery of healthcare projects and support multi-disciplinary teams. The role requires 8+ years of healthcare experience and proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.

You will direct consultants, manage production timelines, review deliverables, and coordinate client presentations while upholding QA/QC standards. This is a people-first culture with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• 5-year Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Architecture from an NAAB accredited University program.
• Minimum of 8 years of job-related experience; Healthcare experience is preferred.
• Proficiency using Revit and AutoCAD required.
• Experience using Rhino, Photoshop, SketchUp, Lumion, Enscape, and/or other 3D rendering software is a plus.
• Ability to interact professionally and maintain interpersonal relationships.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Strong knowledge of architectural systems, accessibility guidelines, building codes, and QA/QC skills.
• Excellent presentation, time management, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of small to medium healthcare projects.
• Support project teams on large projects.
• Direct consultant and technical teams to ensure successful execution of design and deliverables.
• Work with Project Executive and Project Manager to create and oversee production timelines and deadlines.
• Prepare, review, and coordinate deliverables, and manage production staff and consultants.
• Supervise code analysis and verify zoning requirements.
• Facilitate design discussions with consultants and stakeholders.
• Develop and present client presentations.
• Conduct product research and assist in selecting materials and systems.
• Attend site visits, field reviews, and project meetings; document findings.
• Review submittals and support field observations and agency reviews.
• Focus on staff development through mentorship and promoting design excellence.

About You

We’re looking for someone who has:

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly in Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Excellent knowledge of architectural building systems, accessibility guidelines, building codes, and Quality Control skills
• Strong presentation, time management, and organizational skills.

As an Architect, you will:

• Lead the delivery of small to medium size healthcare projects.
• Support project teams on large projects.
• Direct consultant and technical teams to ensure successful execution of project design and deliverables.
• Work alongside the Project Executive and Project Manager to create and oversee production timelines, clearly defining and meeting deadlines.
• Prepare, review, and coordinate deliverables, by managing the work of production staff and consultants, in accordance with our standards and in adherence to our QA/QC processes.
• Supervise code analysis and verify zoning requirements.
• Facilitate design discussions, internally and externally, and lead collaborative work sessions with consultants.
• Develop and present client presentations.
• Conduct product research and assist the team in selecting appropriate materials and systems.
• Attend site visits, field reviews, and project meetings and document relevant information.
• Review submittals, support, and/or lead field observations and agency reviews.
• Focus on the professional development of staff through mentorship.
• Promote a positive team atmosphere.
• Advocate for the firm’s principles of design excellence by integrating sustainable practices.
