Job summary

NewQuest Properties Ltd. is seeking an Independent Contributor with 6+ years of architectural production experience to deliver accurate, permit-ready documentation for a commercial retail portfolio in a 100% office-based Houston role.

You will work closely with Senior Designers and Designer III, developing site plans, elevations, and lease exhibits while maintaining strict adherence to standards and project schedules.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in architectural production, preferably in retail, commercial, or mixed-use development.
• Proficiency in CAD software and familiarity with architectural documentation standards.
• Experience producing permit-ready drawing sets and coordinating with consultants.
• Working knowledge of entitlement documents, legal descriptions, and lease exhibits preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple concurrent project deliverables.
• Bachelor’s degree in architecture, architectural technology, or a related field is preferred.
• In-house architecture team with portfolio-scale impact across an active retail development program.
• Clear career progression path toward Designer III and Senior Designer.
• Mentorship from experienced senior technical staff.
• Collaborative, standards-driven team environment focused on quality and craft

Responsibilities

• Deliver accurate, standards-compliant architectural documentation independently and reduce review burden on senior staff while maintaining projects on schedule.
• Independently produce architectural drawings and documentation across assigned projects.
• Develop site plans, elevations, lease exhibits, and property exhibits.
• Maintain project-specific material and design criteria files.
• Perform thorough self-QA/QC before submitting work for formal review.
• Incorporate tenant requirements into base building documentation.
• Review consultant and tenant drawings under Senior Designer or Designer III direction.
• Support permitting submittals and coordinate responses to jurisdictional comments.
• Verify accuracy of legal descriptions, surveys, and submitted documentation.
• Apply and follow departmental drawing standards consistently across all deliverables.
• Support Designer I staff through informal guidance and targeted drawing reviews.
• Contribute feedback and lessons learned to the ongoing improvement of standards

Scope

Qualified candidates will independently produce architectural documentation for a commercial retail portfolio, working closely with Senior Designers and Designer IIIs to deliver accurate, standards-compliant work across active development and leasing projects while helping keep projects on schedule.

Specific Duties

Specific functional responsibilities shall include (not limited to):

Production Ownership:
