About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking an experienced Architectural Designer III to join their growing architecture team and lead the delivery of complex multifamily and mixed-use projects throughout Texas. This is a senior-level technical role ideal for an architectural professional who thrives in a highly collaborative environment and enjoys taking ownership of projects from concept through construction.

The Architectural Designer III serves as a technical leader and project resource, responsible for independently executing all phases of architectural design and documentation while coordinating closely with internal teams, consultants, contractors, and clients. The successful candidate will bring extensive multifamily experience, advanced knowledge of building systems and codes, and the ability to resolve complex design and coordination challenges with minimal supervision.

This position offers the opportunity to work on large-scale residential developments including podium, mid-rise, high-rise, and mixed-use projects while helping shape project delivery standards and mentoring junior team members.

Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Design Delivery

Lead and independently develop architectural deliverables through Conceptual Design, Schematic Design (SD), Design Development (DD), Construction Documents (CD), and Construction Administration (CA).

  • Manage and execute complete project documentation with minimal oversight while maintaining exceptional quality standards.
  • Ensure design solutions align with project goals, schedules, budgets, and client expectations.
  • Develop technical strategies and guide design decisions throughout project delivery.
  • Serve as a primary technical resource for project teams and stakeholders.
Technical Expertise & Code Compliance

Apply advanced expertise in building codes, life safety planning, accessibility requirements, zoning regulations, and permitting processes.

  • Maintain compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations throughout project development.
  • Provide technical leadership on code interpretation and regulatory compliance issues.
  • Interface with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) to support approvals and permitting processes.
  • Develop solutions that support constructability, performance, and long-term building functionality.
Multifamily & Building Systems Coordination

Serve as a subject matter expert for multifamily housing design, including:

  • Mixed-use residential projects
  • Lead coordination and integration of architectural, structural, MEP, civil, and landscape systems.
  • Develop and oversee advanced building envelope, detailing, and building system solutions.
  • Resolve complex interdisciplinary coordination issues and technical conflicts.
  • Ensure seamless integration across all project disciplines.
Documentation & Quality Control

Oversee the accuracy, consistency, and completeness of project documentation.

  • Develop advanced construction details that align with industry best practices and quality standards.
  • Perform quality assurance and quality control reviews throughout project delivery.
  • Maintain high-quality instruments of service and documentation standards.
  • Ensure project files, documentation, and deliverables are properly organized and maintained.
BIM & Digital Project Delivery

Utilize Revit and BIM workflows at an advanced level to develop and coordinate complex building models.

  • Lead design coordination meetings and model integration efforts.
  • Utilize Autodesk Construction Cloud as the project's common data environment.
  • Manage project documentation, ISO forms, file organization, and naming conventions.
  • Support implementation of innovative design technologies and documentation processes.
Construction Administration

Lead and support construction administration activities, including:

  • RFIs
  • Field observations
  • Site visits
  • Coordination with contractors
  • Provide technical guidance during construction to ensure alignment with design intent.
  • Resolve field conditions and construction-related technical issues.

Collaborate closely with project managers, directors, and department leadership.

  • Interface with clients and project stakeholders, presenting technical solutions and participating in design discussions.
  • Lead consultant coordination efforts throughout all project phases.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to Architectural Designer I and II team members.
  • Foster collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
Continuous Improvement & Quality Management

Participate in the organization's Continual Improvement Program and Quality Management System (QMS).

  • Support compliance with ISO 9001:2015 requirements, quality policies, and established procedures.
  • Contribute to process improvements that enhance project quality, efficiency, and consistency.
  • Understand and adhere to all quality management requirements and objectives.
Qualifications
Education

Bachelor's Degree in Architecture required

Experience

8+ years of professional architectural experience

  • Extensive experience delivering multifamily, mixed-use, and large-scale residential projects
  • Demonstrated ability to independently develop and deliver SD, DD, and CD packages
  • Strong experience coordinating consultants and multidisciplinary project teams
  • Proven expertise in building systems, construction detailing, and technical project delivery
  • Experience supporting projects through construction administration
  • Strong understanding of all phases of architectural documentation and project execution
Technical Skills

Advanced proficiency in Revit

  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Experience with Lumion
